GRAWA presents its inaugural "On The Road" Series - a three part series of panel discussions on how to become a judge, a partner, and/or an elected official. Panelists will share their experiences and provide invaluable insights and tips.

The YWCA will be having its fourth annual Empowering Women Luncheon on October 5th from 12:00 to 1:30pm at the Riverside Convention Center. The speaker this year will be Jeannette Walls, author of The Glass Castle and Half-Broke Horses. Last year, GRAWA members attended and filled a table of ten. The Rochester Legal Diversity Clerkship Program is co-sponsored by the MCBA (through its Diversity Committee), the Rochester Black Bar Association (RBBA), and GRAWA. This program seeks to increase diversity int he legal profession in the Rochester area by attracting qualified first-year law students from historically under-represented groups within the legal profession, including racial and ethnic minorities, to work inpaid positions with Rochester area law firms and other legal employers. The GRAWA Diversity Committee and School Without Walls have partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Rochester in a mentoring partnership that matches high school students who hope to become lawyers with GRAWA mentors who act as positive role models and provide experiences to enable students to achieve their academic and career goals. Mentors are expected to meet in person with their students twice a month and communicate with them by telephone and/or email twice a month. The New York State Parent Education and Awareness Program (PEAP) is an initiative of Chief Judge Judith S. Kaye, and Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman, and Chaired by the Hon. Evelyn Frazee, a Supreme Court Justice of Rochester. Parent education is offered by certified providers to help separating or divorcing parents better understand the effects of their breakup on their children and to give them information and ideas about how to make the new family situation easier and more livable for themselves and their children. There are currently 51 certified providers with a presence in all 62 Counties in New York State. Please check the website at http://www.nycourts.gov/ip/parent-ed/ for a list of certified providers. The Programs are certified through our Office, and can then accept orders or referrals from the Family Courts or the Supreme Court matrimonial parts. Parents can self refer, lawyers can refer parents and agencies can refer them too. Please help spread the word.

The current recycling program GRAWA participates in was suspended due to vendor issues. We have enrolled in a new program and are currently waiting new supplies. If you have current recycling bags, please discard them. A notice will be sent when the new supplies are available. Thank you for your support of GRAWA through this program.
